Vuarnet was founded in France in 1957 from the meeting between optician Roger Pouilloux and ski champion Jean Vuarnet, Olympic downhill gold medallist in 1960. The brand made its name with its high-performance mineral lenses, still produced in-house today at its Meaux factory, recognised in France as an "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant".
Worn by Alain Delon in "La Piscine" and by many other film stars, Vuarnet sunglasses combine sporting heritage and French elegance. Since 2023 the brand has been part of Thélios, the eyewear division of the LVMH group.
